Department of Microbiology 

The department came into existence in 1974, with Prof. R.C. Pandey as the first head. Since then the department is imparting teaching to MBBS students. Presently it also imparts teaching to DMLT students.

The laboratory diagnostic facilities have increased fourfold and number of tests has increased many folds with nearly all modern microbiological diagnostic tools. Department has a ICTC & a SRL (State Reference Laboratory) for HIV testing & Counseling.

It also provides laboratory services for Revised National Turberculosis Control Programme and Vector Borne disease Control Programme. Several research activities are being regularly undertaken either solely or in collaboration with other departments of medical College, Allahabad University and S.G.P.G.I.M.S. Lucknow.
