The Department of Anatomy was established on 5th of May, 1961 in S. R. N. Hospital premises, which was the old Malaka Jail. The department was in the same building, where the present mortuary is situated. The founder of the Department Professor Dr. H. C. Verma was a strict disciplinarian & a very good researcher. He was assisted by Dr S. M. Aggarwal & Dr V. B. Sahay as lecturer.

At present, the department is headed by Dr. A. K. Singh. Post graduation in Anatomy was started in the year 1964 and Dr. S. M. Agarwal, a senior demonstrator was the first post graduate.
