The Department of Pediatrics was started in 1968. It is situated about 2 km away from the main campus and is popularly known as Sarojani Naidu Children Hospital. The hospital has 100 beds. This includes 10 beds for Pediatric surgery unit. The hospital provides facilities of neonatal and pediatric intensive care unit, X-ray , routine pathological tests, physiotherapy , O.P.D. and emergency services. The hospital caters to adjoining 10 districts around Allahabad. Annual O.P.D attendance is around 45000 and about 5000 sick children are admitted in a year. The department is actively engaged in teaching, training and research activities. The hospital will soon start Nutrition Rehabilitation Centre ( N.R.C) in collaboration with UNICEF. This will greatly help the care of severely malnourished children.
