Faculty Members::
Senior Lecturers: Dr. Anudita Bhargava, M.B.B.S, MD-Microbiology (KGMU) Lucknow, PDCC- Infectious  Diseases (SGPGIMS) Lucknow, Joined Moti Lal Nehru Medical College, Allahabad, as Lecturer in April 2003. Promoted as Assist. Prof. w.e.f. 18/9/03, presently she is also Officer-in-charge, V.C.T.C (Voluntary Counseling and Testing Centre), she is also member of the PPTCT (Prevention of parent to child transmission of HIV) and RNTCP (Revised National Tuberculosis Control Programme) core committee. She has also been nominated as Laboratory in charge of ART centre, which will shortly open in this college. She is also Joint Secretary of U.P. Chapter of Indian Association of Medical Microbiology. She has about 13 publications in International and National Conferences. She has presented many papers and posters in International and National Conferences. She has also delivered lectures on various forums. She is also Principal Investigator of a DST funded project.

Resident Doctors: Dr. Meetu Agarwal M.B.B.S (B.R.D. Medical College, Gorakhpur) Joined in June 2006 and continuing, as Non-PG Resident.


SERVICES:

Number of students:- 100-105/year

Duration of students in the department- 18 months

For six months per year, two M.B.B.S batches run=200-210 students; the teaching load is thus doubled during these months.

(c)  Research work : As mentioned in point No.8

     (d) Department is also involved in organisation of various camps for HIV counseling and testing, Vector borne diseases, Tuberculosis control programme, Malaria control programme etc.

     (e) Department has a a very busy Voluntary Counseling and Testing Centre, funded by NACO (National AIDS Control Organization), through UPSACS (U.P. State AIDS Control Society)

There has been 14-fold increase in work diagnostic work-load of the department in past five years.


RESEARCH & TRAINING:
                      

(a) A research project sanctioned by Department of Science and Technology is undergoing in the department under the Principal Investigator ship of Dr. of Microbiology.

(b) Dr. Anudita Bhargava has co-guided 15(fifteen) MD/MS thesis of candidates belonging to different disciplines like Pharmacology, Pediatrics, Pathology, Tuberculosis and Chest, Surgery and Obstetrics  and Gynecology Departments in past four years. The laboratory work of all these were done in the Department of Microbiology.

(c)  Presently Dr. Anudita Bhargava is the co-supervisor of 6 MD/MS candidates from different disciplines like Surgery, Medicine, Pediatrics, Pharmacology and Gynecology and Obstetric   departments.

(d) Collaborative research work has been done and is still going on with the Departments of Chemistry and Botany, University of Allahabad, Allahabad.

(e) Collaborative research work is going on with the Department of Chemistry, C.M.P. Degree College, Allahabad.

(f) Trainings Imparted:-

(1) As a master trainer, Dr. Anudita Bhargava, participated in training 10 district level

          P.P.T.C.T teams, comprising of senior doctors.

            (2) As an expert gave a lecture on Japanese encephalitis, in training of doctors for                   Control of Vector borne diseases.

                (3) Summer and Winter training of B.Sc. and M.Sc. students of Microbiology                          Biotechnology is being done as under:

(4) The department also trains candidates doing DMLT in Pathology, on a rotation basis.


ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES ORGANISED:
 

(a) A symposium was organized in the department on 1st December 2003 on Safe Blood Transfusion and blood component theory.

(b) Dr. Anudita Bhargava was the joint organising secretary of U.P. Chapter of Indian Association of Pathology and Microbiology held in December 2004.

f.      Staining for Opportunistic parasitic infections

                   g.     Test for Pneumocystis jirovecii, Cryptococcus neoformans etc.

FUTURE ENDEAVORS:

 
 
a. PCR will be started shortly for both diagnostic and research purpose, specially for HIV and Tuberculosis

  b. ART centre will be opened shortly in this college. Therefore facility for CD4/CD8 counting will be available in the department.
